Al-Batani is a Palestinian village in Gaza. It was depopulated during the 1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine by the Giv'ati Brigade under Operation Barak. It was located 36 km northeast of Gaza.
In 1948, the village was divided into two parts, Al-Batani Al-Sharqi and Al-Batani Al-Gharbi, each 2 km away from the other. The population of Al-Batani Al-Sharqi was about 754 people, while the population of Al-Batani Al-Gharbi was 1,137 before the displacement. Then Al-Batani Al-Gharbi was evacuated of its residents as a result of the process of displacement and occupation of its lands. The route taken by the villagers to move between the two village’s divisions was parallel to the path of the valley. Unfortunately, the occupation changed the path of the valley and established an air base.
